Hi! I am Amira Mahmoud; I am a prospective graduate of Anglia Ruskin University with a passion for a better teaching experience. Before pursuing my MA degree, I was working as a teacher in different classroom with students from different cultures in Egypt and Qatar.

What makes me interested in teaching is the difference I can make in my students’ lives. As students spend most of their time at schools, teachers have to make the most memorable and lasting impact on their life. Believing in a saying by Khalil Gibran “The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom, but rather, leads you to the threshold of your mind”, I do not only want my students to discover their abilities, but also to perceive their identity the way they want not the way the society wants them to be, so they could do what they love and excel at what they do.

As males and females are two sides of the same coin, here comes the idea of my work. It revolves around the shifted notion of gender from being ‘given’ to something they ‘do’ because the essence of identities cannot be separated from who we are and how we feel, see and act to the world. Similarly, students should feel that their identities are an asset rather than a hindrance to their success.

By sharing in destroying the social or any constraints, both genders confidently can mix the best of their abilities and skills. This in turn would not only promote the small community (school), but also the bigger one (the society). As our students are valued and empowered to learn, it is important to ensure increasing the identity safety so that they feel belonging and create the best of them. The essence of our identities cannot be separated from who we are, how we view the world, how we feel, or how we act.
