Francesco Bavetta

Film and Television Production - BA (Hons)

From a young age the discovery of the visual power of film has helped me to escape and to channel my emotions. It entertained and excited me. I live with my brother who has severe autism, which has shaped me as a person and inspired me to make films that are real and tell a story that needs to be heard. In my films, I want the audience to feel, empathise, question and reflect. Ed Perkins with his creativity, brings out a raw emotion in his documentaries. Screenwriters such as John Hughes have inspired me. His ability to build characters in his brilliant dialogue has influenced my thinking. The genius of actors such as Robert De Nero and the passion and knowledge of directors, such as Scorsese and Tarantino, helped me to produce a first on my dissertation. I have directed two powerful documentaries and taken on all major roles.

I have produced short promotional videos for a company website both through university and privately. My course has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and to learn how to work both alone and in a team. I also have a solid understanding of equipment and software that are industry standard. My degree has given me a platform to move into an entry level runner or Development Assistant role. The longer term ambition is to combine acting and eventually direct my own passion projects.
