For me, the most direct way to understand a culture is to experience it from the inside.
Teashops have become a western stereotype of Taiwan. This has become very interesting to me as a Taiwanese student studying in the UK, so I used this stereotype as a starting point for my work.
For my final degree show work I have created a teahouse, inspired by memories and my imagination. I combined my experience of life in both British and Taiwanese cultures.
Through the observation of ordinary, everyday things, lifestyle and aesthetic choices, and cultural differences. I Have built a cafe / teashop based on my identity and my humour, producing all elements of the work by hand.
