MA Children's Book Illustration

Hi! I am Mariajo, a Spanish illustrator based in London.

In 2010, I graduated in Illustration at the School of Art, Arte 10 in Madrid. After a few years working as a freelancer, I moved to Bath, where I studied Graphic Communication at Bath Spa University.

Intrigued by other cultures and landscapes I travelled around the world as much as she could and in 2016 I landed in India for an Artist in Residence, at the Uttarayan Foundation in Vadodara, where I worked in traditional Lithography and Xylography.

After this amazing experience I worked as a designer/ illustrator creating greetings cards for Clintons, Paperchase and Caroline Gardner.

Now I finished my MA in Children’s book illustration, pursuing my dream of becoming a children’s book illustrator/ author.

I was the new talent overall winner at the World Illustration Awards 2020. 

My project Flooded was the 3rd most voted in the Unpublished Picture Book in 2020. I was also a finalist at the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition and Nami Concours 2020.
