For her major project, Barbara wanted to explore how typography can be made to be more visually exciting in books for young readers. She designed typefaces that would be used as chapter introductions for the Winnie-the-Pooh: Classic Collection series, but could also be downloaded for leisurely use. In doing so, she was hoping that while her work was made with printed books in mind, she could also relate it to the fact that many children learn via electronic devices now. It was made for physical items, but Barbara wanted it to be accessible to those who take interest in handheld devices. It needed to be available to any young child that may be reluctant to read in their own time.
