Fine Art - BA (Hons)

My site-responsive artwork is a response to the isolation of Lockdown, which is developed in the secure location of my home and garden. My practice uses found objects, which are gathered from skip diving for discarded man-made and organic materials. I deconstruct and reconstruct these elements, developing new forms and creating juxtapositions, with an artwork evolving that links with concepts associated with the art of Sumi-e. I am interested in translating my understanding of the four basic strokes of Sumi-e, and with its four treasures. These ideas are developed in conjunction with a broader exploration of philosophy and aesthetics, along with an underlying interest in sculpture and 3d construction, in which the materials become intuitive linguistic art forms.
