Artemis Swann

Film Studies and Media Studies - BA (Hons)

Artemis created Urban Suffocation to explore the idea of wanted and unwanted noise through the medium of the audio track.  Coming from a rural background and home this is also a personal journey. We begin in the countryside and end in the city where anxiety levels are noticeably raised and the noise from traffic and people overwhelming.  Additionally, it communicates the notion that not everyone is cut out for the daily commute and city life.

Having been introduced to the world of field recording in her third year of studying BA (Hons) Film and Media Studies, Artemis drew inspiration from acclaimed recordists Chris Watson, Jez Riley French and Melissa Pons as well as her own interest in nature, conservation and the environment and has future aspirations to go onto work in the field of sound production, editing and design.
