Ethan Mitchell
Computer Games Art - BA (Hons)
My name is Ethan Mitchell and I'm a 3rd year Computer Games Art student specialising in environment and prop art.
I've always wanted to be part of the games industry and to make and create games to inspire people the same way I was. The process of creating something that both you and other people can enjoy is something I have always resonated with. I have a passion for creating stories through my art that brings to life environments and props. I create art using lots of different inspirations including film, TV, and games, as well as ideas I've come up with myself. I've worked with the British Academy and created art for Twitch streamers and YouTubers. Seeing people's positive reactions to your art created in a relatively new medium is always motivating and inspires me to keep creating and improving.
This environment was my personal project from my final semester and was inspired by the planet Tatooine from Star Wars. It includes a small village with a droid seller, food vendor and scrap dealer. Both the old Star Wars films and the new TV shows like The Mandalorian spend a lot of time on Tatooine. I wanted to create a small village of my own while keeping the architecture and layout authentic to Star Wars. I modelled, textured and then rendered my village using my workflow that ive been improving throughout my time at Anglia Ruskin. The Lego Star Wars game on the PSP was what made me want to get into the games industry as a kid, so it felt like the perfect piece to finish my time at university and I'm excited to see where the games industry takes me.
