Daniela Silva

Digital Media Production - BA (Hons)

Hey! I’m Daniela, and I recently finished the Cambridge School of Art’s “Digital Media Production” course.

My work mainly focuses on immersive storytelling and its collusion with mental health, identity and how it can affect people’s everyday lives.

I’m personally inspired by the work of the band BTS as well as the fine-artist Henn Kim and other artists such as Dana Terrace, Luke Pearson and Daron Nefcy.

My career aspiration revolves around content creation, but most specifically, meaningful content creation. I hope to be able to produce stories that mean something and that will hopefully inspire those who see it.

My key achievements focus on my exploration of imposter syndrome through a short animation film I produced, called “The Simple Essence of Being”. Moreover, my research project on the field of sexuality and identity on social media, is also something I am proud of.

Recently, my work has revolved around transmedia storytelling. I was mostly inspired by content creator Wilbur Soot, and have focused my major project on the production of an ARG whose story revolves around the Multiverse, as well as the ethic implications of doing what someone thinks is right for the universe, but not so right for the personal people who live in the planet.

Varna Jain - Varna is one of the characters that makes New Canterbury Tales project. In my most recent work, I roleplay this character in order to bring her story to life, through a complex transmedia ARG. Varna is a depressed teenager that’s struggling to find out what she wants to do when she grows up. The only thing that makes her happy is getting lost wondering around the city, whilst drawing anything that catches her eye.

Varna’s Explorer Journal - During her journey, Varna explores multiple universes, including her own city of New Canterbury. She uses this journal to annotate everything she sees, as well as reflect on what it all means.

$Refractions of the soul - During my first year, I got the privilege of shooting a few different pictures of my friend Beatriz. This one ended up being one of my favourites. This entire session was partially inspired by BTS song “The Truth Untold” and depicts how keeping one’s true personality hidden can affect the person’s mental health.$

This entire session was partially inspired by BTS song “The Truth Untold” and depicts how keeping one’s true personality hidden can affect the person’s mental health.

“The Simple Essence of Being” is a short animated film that depicts the struggles of living with imposter syndrome and learning to live with it, rather then trying to get rid of it.

This is the first clue I ever released for the New Canterbury Tales ARG. It is an audio diary made by Varna, where she is talking about her insecurities. At the end, it flashes a url to Varna’s website, from where the players can keep extracting clues.

This was a project I made on my second year, where we had to animate a podcast episode from “The Listening Project” podcast. I adored how carefree and innocent the kids on this episode were and decided to animated in a simple yet fun way.
