With a focus on transcending the everyday, Holly creates paintings of household domestic objects that explore our phenomenological relationship with perceived time and memory. The subject matter stems from her personal experience of being a carer for her grandmother on palliative care; and the mundane, often overlooked appliances that remind Holly of experiences with her. Through enlarging the visual composition of these commonplace objects and exploring a painterly representation of daily ritual, this allows for the scale to be brought towards a sense of abstraction and ambiguity; elevating these items beyond their original form, and encouraging the spectator to take on an active role in the viewing process.
