Velina Garabedyan

Illustration and Animation - BA (Hons)

Hi, I’m Velina – an animator from Bulgaria with a passion for quirky characters and immersive storytelling. I specialize in 2D frame-by-frame animation and motion graphics with focus on character personality, which I like to implement within my illustration work as well. My inspiration I draw from folklore and fantasy, as well as from the colourful world around me.

My graduation film Wherever I Wander is a celebration of family, the connection to our roots and Bulgarian folklore. It tells a story of happy nostalgia and inner strength and connects with its audience through its authenticity and deeply personal message.

During my time at Cambridge School of Art I took on several free-lance animation projects and gained experience working directly with clients, such as Shakespeare’s Globe for their Globe 4 Globe Earth Day Symposium and The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge for their FitzVirtual campaign. I aspire to work within a team and share experience and inspiration with talented people alike. With a background in Mathematics and Programming, I am quick to learn any software and am very creative in problem-solving. You can find out more about my work on my personal website below!
