Illustration and Animation - BA (Hons)

I am Molly Mayhew, an Illustration and Animation graduate with a passion for writing and illustrating children’s picture books. The Confidence Trick is a book that aims to teach young girls the importance of believing in their own abilities and having confidence to do things that may seem difficult at first. The animated short aims to showcase my love for animation and breathe life into the characters. I was heavily inspired by many shows with similar themes including Hilda, Bee and Puppycat and Adventure Time. I also researched archetypes and story structure extensively to help produce a well written story that can be easily understood.

I want to seek out more opportunities within storytelling and illustration, and another goal of mine is to work with children in a creative setting. I would love to gain more experience within animation as well with a focus on creating content for younger audiences. My biggest achievements during this final year have been successfully winning a brief with the Fitzwilliam Museum to create an animation and writing and illustrating this book.
