Jodie Turl

Fine Art - BA (Hons)

Jodie's art practice looks into mathematics within art, focusing on geometric patterns and shapes that are made through a combination of angles; constructed of straight sides. Her work explores the investigation of shape, balance and monochromatic colour, whilst also being able to encompass a space with just two materials.

Memory is the main theme running throughout Jodie's work. Her work is ephemeral, meaning once the work has been deconstructed, it will only be alive in the photographs and memories of its audience. It can never be remade in exactly the same way, no matter how methodically it was constructed. Ephemerality is also a link between the relationship of existence, decay and loss. Just like life, a piece of wool has a start, middle and end creating a beautiful coexistence.
