Barbara Sousa is a freelancer Director and Camera Operator and a lover of beautiful things. She has a very strong aesthetic quality and vision in her work and strives for excellent quality. Nurturing a love for the visual arts and film.
She studied Audio-visual Communication at Escola Artística de Soares dos Reis. In 2017, she entered Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge school of the creative industries), graduating her degree in Film and Television Production with the class of 2020. During both her time at and out of university she has tried to improve her technical qualities with several short films, documentaries and animations as well as making time for freelance videography work for independent directors and institutions.
Her most recent works as a director include two short films "No Escuro" (2019) and "Midnight Western" (2020). When it comes to Camera Operating, her the most recent productions were Ashes (2019) and Re-membering(2020) all both directed by fellow filmmakers.
She also produced content for Polar Educators Institute, Cambridge University and The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM). Additionally, she assisted in the production of independent other short films by filling in roles ranging from Sound recordist and boom operator to grip and runner.
