Inês Mourão

Fashion - BA (Hons)

Inês Mourão is an ambitious and multidisciplinary final year fashion student at Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University. She studied Fine Arts in high school which initiated her creative career and influenced her future projects, as well as a creative upbringing of ballet, violin classes and theatre. Originally from the north of Portugal, Inês moved to Cambridge in 2017 to attend university.

Her projects explore gender equality and empowerment - merging feminine and masculine, artificial and organic, testing the boundaries of garment construction and its functionality. Inês uses the human body as inspiration, offering different perspectives on it, questioning its strengths, fragility, and limits. The most distinctive aspect of her design identity is the constant use of tailoring and experimentation with unique materials, fabric manipulation and print.

Inês views fashion as a universal language, a raw form of expression, the exteriorisation of one’s self and their aspirations.

In the summer before her final year, she did an internship in Emilio’s de la Morena atelier in London which provided an insight into the industry and of running a business.

More recently, one of her biggest accomplishments was styling the shoot featured in the May issue of Velvet Magazine.
